The 'Junction Hotel' was the location of the first meeting of The Andover Model Railway Club, which was formed with twelve members in February 1979.
The first 'club' house was an old coaching shed in the Hotel's yard. A floor had to be put into this shed before a start could be made on the first model project a 30' x 8' permanent 00 layout.
In 1981, now with thirty members, the club held the first of its exhibitions.
In April 1990 due to a proposed second rebuilding of the shed site, the club become homeless. It was to remain so for twelve months. Our 'Newsletter', which began at this time to keep members informed of any progress in the search for premises, is still going strong.
For a brief period meetings were held at the 'Way Out' Community Club. However, as there was no storage available this could only be a short term solution.
After a long search, in April of 1993 we moved into our next home, an 18th century listed stable/barn in the grounds of the Station Hotel, Bridge Street, Andover.
In July 2004 we had to vacate the Stable Barn at the Station Hotel due to the condition of the building.
We now meet in a village hall
at Wildhern
